Adelphi Rent a Car specializes in car hire and vehicle rental in Sea Point, Cape Town.Our company was established shortly after the end of World War 2. The shortage of vehicles in the post war years created a demand for, initially our chauffeur-drive and later our self-drive vehicles. Over the past fifty years, the company has remained an independent family owned business, resisting the temptation of developing into a national high cost  operation. While based only in Cape Town, we have representation in other centers of South Africa. Adelphi Rent a Car specializes in the supply of high-quality, well maintained passenger vehicles at competitive prices,  priding ourselves on the high standard of friendly personal service we offer. Our offices are situated in Sea Point on the Atlantic Seaboard of Cape Town.





Adelphi Motors opened for business in 1946, in Main Road, Sea Point. The company specialized in the sale of used vehicles, and provided a Taxi service. In 1954, the premises were re-developed into a modern facility. Self-drive cars was offered and Atlantic petrol sold from this facility. In 1976 the premises were again modernized. With the demise of the Atlantic petrol brand and the introduction of all South African Trek Petroleum, the petrol forecourt was converted to Trek. At this time the country was experiencing threatened sanctions, and motorists rationed with fuel.
