Crystal,s Arts and Crafts started as a hobby four years ago.At first I started with the making of fabric wall-hangings,placemats,oven gloves,paper-made vases,chair-covers,giftboxes and decorated glass plates and clocks.They all had an African type of look,so I called it my African arts and crafts.I showed it to friends and family and they showed a great interest in it.I was encouraged to register my business and did so in 2005.I then registered with TEP(TOURISM Enterprise Progrome)and was funded to have my business cards done by a proffesional.I then joined the Tourism forum at the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality and was more exposed to the public and international tourist.In the years of 2006 and 2007,I was sponsered by PERCCI to have a stall at the Black Economic Empowerment Expo and that was the beginning of my journey as an entrepreneur.The sales was not that big but the exposure even better.My products were sold to tourist from England,Germany,Irland and Congo. Because my products are seasonal,I decided to add schoolwear , corporate wear and corporate gifts to my business.I was very happy when I made that decision,because through that, I received even more exposure.At this stage I am focussing more on the schools,because they are my main source of income right now.I have introduced my products to Senegal in Africa and hope to get a positive answer from them.My dream is to have my own factory within the near future and to create more jobs to those who are unemployed.
